QUIET DOWN

One day He and His disciples got in a boat. “Let’s cross the lake,” He said. And off they went. It was smooth sailing, and he fell asleep. A terrific storm came up suddenly on the lake. Water poured in, and they were about to capsize. They woke Jesus: “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!”

Getting to His feet, He told the wind, “Silence!” and the waves, “Quiet down!” They did it. The lake became smooth as glass.

Then He said to His disciples, “Why can’t you trust me?”

They were in absolute awe, staggered and stammering, “Who is this, anyway? He calls out to the winds and sea, and they do what He tells them!” Luke 8:22-25

This Bible story is like a picture of our daily lives. Every day, we face different challenges, just like crossing a lake. These challenges can come from our work, our families, our communities, or our churches. Each challenge is like a different lake, with its own problems and difficulties.

In the story, Jesus is asleep in the boat when a big storm hits. This is like when we feel overwhelmed or tempted to give up. But even in the storm, Jesus stays calm and steady. It’s like God telling us to keep going, to trust Him no matter what happens.

We may experience moments of doubt, feeling unworthy or guilty, but God’s promise remains unchanged. He commands us to be strong and courageous, assuring us of His constant presence and support: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).

So, when troubles arise, let us turn to Jesus for help. Just as he calmed the storm with a word, he is near to calm the storms in our lives. Whatever challenges we’re facing today, remember that with Jesus, we can cross the lake, overcoming every obstacle that stands in our way.”

God Bless You Abundantly.
